| THERMATEX RUGS | |
|
Thermatex Multi Purpose Rugs: are made from three breathable layers. The insulating layer traps air just like the Horses own coat. The inner layer of wool has excellent wicking capabilities. The middle layer of polypropylene keeps the layers apart, so that the moisture cannot get back to the Horse. The moisture, weather water or sweat is driven up wards by the combined action of the wicking properties of the wool layer and the warmth of the Horses body making the moisture rise upwards. The moisture then lies on the top of the rug in a fine mist until it evaporates leaving the Horse dry and warm under the rug. To fit: it is most important that you get the right fitting on your Horse of Pony you will need to buy at least a size smaller that your horse normally wears in a stable rug. If for instance your Horse normally wears a 6'3 stable rug then he will need a 6' Thermatex rug. One of my own Ponies wears a 5'9" Turnout Rug a 5'6 Stable Rug and a 5'3 Thermatex just as a guide. The Thermatex rugs come with two substantial chest fastenings and then underneath either a single belly strap or cross Surcingles I have never found the need for anything other than the single belly strap as the rug never slips. Make sure the rug is the right size and that both the chest straps are done up properly and that the belly strap is done up fitting snugly into the Horse's chest at girth level.
